The 2008 Great Carroll County Cycling Event is set to go once again!
The 62 mile single lap ride and race is a favorite of many returning fans and will be a certain hit again this year. This is our 6th year hosting this event. Every year the event starts in a new location; this year we are back to the original host town of Savanna Illinois starting the Event from Old Mill Park on the East side of town on Rte 52/64.
As is usual, this years event will be a 62+ mile single lap race. Actually usual is not a good word to describe our route. It is not usual to have such a beautiful course to ride! The hills challenge and the trees and green pastures tantalize the eyes.
As has been the norm for the past several years we will have an ABR sanctioned race again as well as the Ride. The racers take off first with riders following after. Everyone follows a very well marked route and can expect water and sport drinks on the course with Sag support through out the route. Sheriff and Auxiliary Police members will be on the course as well.
Online registration is open at Active.com or at one of two pre-race times. We have the Friday evening Registration to be held at the Old Mill Park (see Map on Race Info Forms) from 6pm to 8pm. And again the day of the Race at the Race Start 6am to 8am again at Old Mill Park. Please note that racers this year should arrive promptly as we need to start the race line up at 8:30am and will start the race at 9am.
After the race we will have the Dan Vols band keeping things lively will participants enjoy a hot pasta meal with plenty of sides to replace the calories lost on the course. Prizes and Trophies will be given away in each of the categories and will be awarded 5 places deep.
We hope to see you there! Ride the Ride, Race the Race!
